The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Show from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The latest Far Cry title that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and insanity with similar excitement, all while telling engaging, socially charged stories. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose projects have exemplified all of those things.

Show Details

Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by having a different location and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also star in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their constant trust and assistance.”

“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone program. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and bring our mutual irreverent, visionary approach to the television.”

A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
