Approximately 55,000 homes have reportedly been harmed by the storms, with their possessions and shelters damaged.

Persistent storms over the last seven days have worsened the precarious living conditions of the many hundreds of thousands of evacuated residents in the territory, according to aid organizations.

"Terrible" Conditions Brings Serious Threats

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the streets.

"These conditions was really horrendous for the people. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the winds were so forceful," noted the spokesperson.

Authorities voice significant anxiety that children living in temporary structures in wet attire will contract hypothermia and other sicknesses.

Fatalities and Extensive Destruction

The health ministry have reported that one baby has died from exposure and at least 11 other people have been killed in building collapses triggered by the severe weather.

Further statements put a greater number of casualties. Officials said that several homes had collapsed completely and dozens had collapsed partially.

  • Nearly 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 designated shelters submerged.
  • Many people forced to find new shelter.

Aid Efforts Considered Insufficient

Groups have increased deliveries of tents, blankets and clothing since the truce began, but they stress there is still not enough aid entering.

"We are operating tirelessly to deliver that relief and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the requirements is so enormous that we still have thousands of people and minors who are genuinely struggling every night," stated one spokesperson.

Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Terms

The second phase of the ceasefire encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the withdrawal of troops, and other conditions.

Humanitarian groups have underscored the need for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to address pressing and long-term needs."

The hostilities was sparked by an attack in October 2023. Following campaigns have led to a high number of casualties in the territory, based on official figures.
