Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it's understandable for questions to be raised about his position following a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the belief. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a spell such as this with results this poor.”

He stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
