A woman charged with harassing Kate McCann reportedly left her a phone message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who court testimony revealed has repeatedly claimed she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the court learned communication data and information recovered from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a biological test throughout that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and is still open.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

One voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine used to be, but I feel what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's recording expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I'm her? Then what? Is that not significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," she added.

The panel was told that via emails, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a effort to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.
